BREAKING : 4-star defensive end to be signed by nebraska

The spring game is quickly approaching, so the Nebraska football program is finalizing its roster for the coming season. The absence of one defensive player from the most recent roster update, though, caught the attention of those who noticed something unusual about the Cornhuskers’ roster.
Steve Marik of Inside Nebraska has confirmed that defensive back Corey Collier Jr. of the Nebraska football team is not on the roster. The reason he’s not on the roster right now is not quite obvious.

“Corey Collier Jr., a safety for Nebraska, is no longer with the team, Inside Nebraska verified on Wednesday afternoon via a source. Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., Collier’s name was missing from the transfer portal.

Collier hasn’t contributed much during his time in college. Collier transferred to Nebraska football during the previous offseason, having only registered two tackles and a sack with the Florida Gators. In five games played while with the Cornhuskers, Corey Collier Jr. failed to register any stats. Collier was mostly a special teams player.

It’s unlikely that Collier’s loss will negatively impact the Cornhuskers in the long run. According to reports, the program signed ten defensive backs from the 2024 class and acquired Blye Hill via the transfer site. Having said that, the secondary will be fine for the Nebraska football team the next season.

If Corey Collier Jr. want to play collegiate football, he may transfer to a different university. He would be ideal in a smaller program where he could be able to take on a more significant role. Collier still has at least three years left to be eligible, so we’ll see how things work out for him.
