Manchester City want a excellent player to commit new deal with PSG keen on signing the Portuguese star

  • Manchester City want Bernardo Silva to sign a new contract to stay at the club
  • Barcelona, PSG and Saudi side Al Hilal all interested in signing the midfielder
  • City want Silva to stay and have offered big wage increase in new two-year deal

Manchester City are piling the pressure on Bernardo Silva to sign a new deal at the club and put an end to the transfer speculation surrounding the Portuguese star.

Silva has been heavily rumoured with an exit from City this summer, having helped the club to their historic treble last season.

However, City are keen for the 28-year-old to extend his stay in Manchester and have offered Silva a two-year deal on top of his current contract, which has two years left to run.

The new deal would increase his salary to £300,000-a-week and according to The Mirror, City are pressing the midfielder for an answer so they can put an end to the rumours surrounding his future.

Barcelona remain long-term admirers of Silva, with Joan Laporta recently stating he wants to sign the Portuguese star. PSG have also been in contact with City to offer a swap deal for the player.

There has also been interest from Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal ready to pay Silva £500,000-a-week deal to take him to the middle east.

No club has however been able to meet the £70m asking price that Pep Guardiola has put on the popular player’s head.

If Silva does make the decision to leave the Premier League champions, the club are keen to ready a replacement and have already been linked with a move for Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Silva has already rejoined his teammates for pre-season and there has been no issues with the Portuguese international, with Guardiola happy with his attitude upon his return.

So far this summer Guardiola’s men have only added Mateo Kovacic in a £25m deal from Chelsea, although they remain confident they can add RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol before the end of the window.Bernardo Silva - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

Skipper Ilkay Gundogan has already left the club for Barcelona, and Riyad Mahrez is on the very of wrapping a move to Al-Ahli after City accepted a £30m bid for the winger.

With Mahrez’s impending exit, City could swoop to replace the Algerian with Barcelona forward Raphinha.

Barca wouldn’t want the Brazilian to leave the Nou Camp, but given the club’s delicate financial status any bid from City could open the door for Raphinha to make a return to the Premier League.

Elsewhere the future’s of Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte remain uncertain, while there still seems to be no way back for Joao Cancelo after he fell out of favour with Guardiola last season.
