The Tar Heels led by 11 early on before the Florida State Seminoles took over. UNC turned the ball over 12 times in the first half, with the Seminoles scoring 19 points off of those mistakes. They also shot 50% from the floor and made seven 3-pointers.

But North Carolina’s veteran group reined things in before returning to the court.

“Everyone has their piece to say,” RJ Davis said. “Everyone’s just chirping in the locker room.”

After the team talked amongst themselves and heard from the coaches, they decided on the necessary adjustments that they needed to make and ultimately determined, “We’re fine.”

Four of UNC’s five starters ended with double-digit scoring. The turnover woes from the first half were diminished, with UNC committing just five in the second half. FSU took an 8-point lead early in the second half, but a 28-10 run across a 10-minute span put the Tar Heels up. North Carolina held on late to 75-68.

UNC scored many of its points by attacking the paint against the lengthy Seminoles defense, either by drawing fouls or exploiting mismatches on the perimeter. Outside shooting played a role early into that second-half run, with two catch-and-shoot 3-pointers from Cormac Ryan and a triple from Harrison Ingram that re-took the lead.
