Corey Jensen, one of Brisbane’s more seasoned forwards, is in a good position to earn a starting position in 2024, but he is aware that both new players and seasoned veterans will be fierce competitors.

The prop is making a strong case to regain a starting spot in light of the departures of Tom Flegler, Kurt Capewell, and Keenan Palasia. The prop was disappointed not to make the finals series despite playing 21 games in the regular season.

For Brisbane’s season opener in Las Vegas, Jensen is aware that he will face opposition from veteran Martin Taupau, as well as from up-and-coming players like Xavier Willison and Benjamin Te Kura. Additionally, newcomers Fletcher Baker and Jaiyden Hunt are also considered contenders.

“Although the club has lost a lot of experience, I think they’re in a great position with a lot of the younger players coming through. It may take some time for them to develop, but I think these young guys have a lot of upside and potential.”

“These young guys, Benny Te Kura, Xavier, [back] Deine Mariner, and others, have experienced first grade or may play first grade in the future, and they will play for a lot of first grade for a long time.”

At thirty-nine, Jensen is only three games away from reaching 100 career games. Throughout the summer, he has worked to strengthen his own game to support his argument, all the while putting the needs of the team first and being willing to help his positional opponents advance.
