The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off a Rose Bowl loss to Michigan to end their season. After the season officially ended, another wave of players have hit the transfer portal. Offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Alabama Loses OL Terrence Ferguson To The Transfer Portal

Ferguson was the number two IOL in the 2021 class. The redshirt sophomore was one of the best reserve linemen in the country. He appeared in six games in 2023 including his first career start against USF. Ferguson did suffer a high ankle sprain that kept him out for a bit which likely affected his playing time. Ferguson is the fourth Crimson Tide player to enter the transfer portal after the bowl game loss.

Concern For Nick Saban?

Losing players is never good but this is the nature of college football in 2024. Players, especially quality backups, want more playing time and are willing to test the waters of the transfer portal. Ferguson would most likely be a starter in most programs but the depth that a program like Alabama has makes that not possible. He immediately becomes one of the top targets for teams that want to upgrade their offensive line. For Nick Saban, it means having to coach up some other linemen which is something he has had success with during his time in Tuscaloosa.

Can Alabama make another run at a national championship in 2024? Under Saban, they are always in the mix.
