Joe Milton III will not play in the Tennessee Volunteers’ bowl game against the Iowa Hawkeyes this Monday because he is concentrating on his future.
In the Citrus Bowl, Tennessee, rated No. 21 at 8-4, will play the No. 17 Hawkeyes (10-3). After playing his outstanding senior season, Milton declared on social media that he will forego the competition and instead declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

This season, Milton threw for 2,813 yards and 20 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 299 yards and seven touchdowns.
With this announcement, his college career comes to an end, despite his stellar stats.
Coming out of high school in Orlando, Florida, Milton was rated as a four-star quarterback. He signed with the Michigan Wolverines and played primarily as a backup quarterback for three seasons at Ann Arbor.
In 2021, he moved to Tennessee in the hopes of becoming Josh Heupel’s starting quarterback. However, he was only the QB1 for two games when a leg injury allowed Hendon Hooker to take over in Tennessee. After serving as Hooker’s backup in 2022, Milton was given his opportunity to start this past season.
