Amazon Prime pundit Rob Lee has raved about Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White for his performance in the win over Newcastle. The 23-year-old was handed the captain’s armband as Nuno Espirito Santo claimed his first win.
Following a penalty kick by Alexander Isak, the Reds found themselves down. Chris Wood’s goal just before halftime tied the score, despite Gibbs-White’s early chance to put Forest ahead.
In the second half, the 32-year-old striker showed his former employers what he was capable of. With two more goals, the match ball, and some appreciation from Forest captain Gibbs-White, he left St. James’ Park.
Lee praises Gibbs-White greatly.
Regarding Gibbs-White, Lee was quite complimentary of the Forest dramatist. Throughout the ninety minutes of the competition, he made four crucial passes and was everywhere.
“Not many people get the better of Bruno; he’s been brilliant all season, but I have to admit that Gibbs-White played him very, very well today,” the Newcastle-supporting pundit stated in an interview with Amazon Prime
He harassed him, went close to him, and got in places to give himself plenty of opportunities. It was an all-around midfield effort; he was combative and savvy.
Gibbs-White excelled throughout the Forest victory.
For the duration of the season, the 23-year-old must maintain this caliber of play. He hasn’t exactly been without effort, despite his below-average play this season, but he will want to improve on his one goal and two assists.
