SAD NEWS: COVENTRY CITY COACH HAS BEEN FIRED

Doyle, 42, has inked a two-and-a-half-year deal with the National League team that expires at the end of the 2024–2025 campaign.

He quit his position as Portsmouth’s coach to take the helm of the Surrey team.

Former Coventry City, Portsmouth and Notts Nounty man lands role

Doyle finished his playing career last year, having played his final game for Notts County.

Throughout his career, he made 843 appearances across all competitions, most of them in the Football League, and he scored 41 goals.

The former midfield player began his career with Celtic as a young player, but in 2003 Coventry called, thus he relocated to England. He went on to become an important member of the Sky Blues, playing 297 games throughout their second-tier tenure of seven years.

After that, in 2011, Sheffield United enticed him to move to South Yorkshire, where they were demoted to League One while he was employed at Bramall Lane. Under Nigel, they did, however, go to the FA Cup semifinal.

After playing for the Blades, Doyle slipped to the fourth division. Under Paul Cook’s direction, he enjoyed two campaigns with Portsmouth where he contributed to their promotion.

After that, he briefly returned to Coventry before joining Notts County in the non-league.

Doyle joined Forest Green Rovers as Ian Burchnall’s assistant in May 2022 after leaving the Magpies, however he resigned that role in January. now then, he has worked at Pompey as their Professional Development Phase employee, however he has now joined Woking as their top employee.
