Choose Nick! Shaq Leonard reveals that the Philadelphia Eagles have a signing advantage over the Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys NFL Tracker

DEC 7 SHAQ CITES SIRIANNI AS DIFFERENT FROM COWBOYS It wasn’t exactly Brotherly Love, but Shaquille Leonard was drawn to Lincoln Financial Field by a sense of familiarity.Leonard, a newly minted Philadelphia Eagle, discussed his decision to wear green as his new team prepares to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night (7:20 p.m. CT, NBC). Each tried to attract Leonard as the long-time rivals sought a defensive difference in the final stretch of a season that has each on top of the NFC East. According to the four-time All-Pro, a familiar face in the head coaching position, Nick Sirrianni, made the difference.

“Nick and I were in Indianapolis together. “Nick is a great coach and a great competitor,” Leonard said, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I wanted to go somewhere that fit me, to a coach who knew who I was as a person and as a player.”

Leonard spent his first three NFL seasons (2018-20) with the Indianapolis Colts training against Sirianni’s offensive sets. The Colts appeared in the top 10 offenses and made the playoffs twice in three years when Sirianni was offensive coordinator. That achievement piqued the Eagles’ interest, and Sirianni was hired to follow Doug Pederson in 2021.

Going up against Leonard in practice looked to have left an impression on Sirianni, who had compiled a 33-13 record in his first head coaching position of any type in Philadelphia.

“He has a natural talent for football,” Sirianni remarked in Tolentino’s article. “That’s not just my impression from watching him play recently, but also from the practice reps I’ve had against him.” So, in pass coverage, his length and instinct are pretty impressive, and he has a nose for the ball.”
