Burnley are interested in Brazilian attacker Ferreira.
According to Football Scotland, Burnley are keeping tabs on Gremio’s Ferreira this summer, but face competition from Celtic for the forward’s signature. Celtic have already made an approach for the player.
Vincent Kompany will be looking to add further potency to his attacking contingent, ahead of Burnley’s return to the Premier League. The Clarets have already been busy making additions in other parts of the pitch, with centre-backs Jordan Beyer and Dara O’Shea joining the club, and goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux also arriving at Turf Moor. The signing of Swiss striker Zeki Amdouni has also been recently confirmed.
Ferreira would be another interesting addition, if Burnley can beat the Scottish giants in therace to get a deal done.
Ferreira has spent his entire career with Gremio, having come through the club’s academy – aside from loan stints with Sao Luiz, Toledo, Cianorte, and Aimore. The forward has played all of his club football in Brazil, and may well be keen to test himself in Europe.
Signing Ferreira would represent a risk for Burnley. The 25-year-old would likely need some time to adjust to the Premier League, and might never be able to hit the standard required. He is an intriguing talent though. Ferreira managed 3 goals and 3 assists for Gremio last season, operating primarily on the left wing, as he endured an injury-hit campaign.
Given Burnley’s situation, and the task ahead of Kompany, the club would be better off focusing their efforts and funds on more proven prospects.
