After Josh Allen intercepted it, Trevor Lawrence scored on a quarterback sneak. Following a nine-play, 48-yard touchdown drive by Cincinnati, tragedy struck when Lawrence was forced to leave the game due to an ankle injury.

There were moments of brilliance throughout, like when Green Bay bravely decided to go for it on a fourth-and-1 from the Kansas City 44-yard line, which set up a floating heave to a double-covered Romeo Doubs 33 yards down the field. However, the game was close and ended in the third quarter. The game’s lone turnover proved to be crucial in deciding the winner on Sunday night. With less than five minutes remaining and down five points, the Chiefs were getting close to middle when Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon♿spotted the ball early on a Pass to Patrick Mahomes♿ first-down marker and picked it off. Following, the Packers were able to record three first downs.

Lars Carlson’s crucial 48-yard field goal sealed the 11-play, 35-yard march and forced the Chiefs to spend all of their timeouts. With 70 seconds left, Green Bay simply needed to defend the end zone now that they were up eight points. The resurgent Packers defeated the defending Super Bowl champions after the defense did.

On the first play of Tampa Bay’s next possession, Mike Evans♿ broke free to score a 75-yard touchdown, swiftly wiping out Carolina’s advantage in the third quarter. After collecting Baker Mayfield’s ball at the 50-yard line, Evans dashed into the end zone, outpacing Panthers cornerback C.J. Henderson’s pass to the pylon for the longest reception of his career. With his 162-yard day, Evans went on to surpass 1,000 yards for the season, his tenth consecutive season of hitting the milestone since entering the NFL in 2014.

In the second half, Sean McVay demonstrated his coaching prowess by staying one step ahead of Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Matthew Stafford led a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that featured two huge completions to Demarcus Robinson. Not to be outdone, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco orchestrated a methodical march that took 13 plays to go 75 yards, with a touchdown pass to Harrison Bryant from eight yards out to end the drive. However, Dustin Hopkins’ failed PAT put the Browns in a tight spot, and on the first play of the drive that followed—which Cleveland forced to punt—Flacco threw an interception. From there, the Rams dominated the game, using Stafford’s deft passes and Kyren Williams to eventually score 17 points.

In the third quarter, the Eagles closed the gap between the 49ers and themselves to 21-13, seemingly paving the way for an exciting Philadelphia finale between the two teams that are undoubtedly the best in the NFC. The 49ers had different ideas. Brock Purdy hit Brandon Aiyuk for a crucial third-down convert to preserve the drive after a sack on first down, then Christian McCaffrey tore off 16 yards for another first down. The Eagles blitzed Purdy as they were closing in, but he found Deebo Samuel, who broke tackle attempt by Nicholas Morrow and outran the Eagles defense 48 yards to the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

During the next drive, New England’s offense crossed midfield, suggesting that they had made the necessary adjustments after forcing a hasty three-and-out to begin the second half. However, the Chargers’ defense tightened its hold as soon as the Patriots got into field goal range in a six-point contest. Bailey Zappe was sacked by Justin Hollins on third down and by Khalil Mack on second, respectively, ending an 11-play drive and forcing a punt from the Chargers’ 43-yard line. The successive sacks seemed to deflate an offensive that had been desperately trying to move the chains all day. In the fourth quarter, a similar sequence that saw Eric Kendricks and Derwin James sack Zappe on consecutive plays to force a fumble would ultimately spell doom for the Patriots.

Seven minutes into the game, the Saints were down 21-0, but they battled back. After closing the gap to three points, they forced the Lions to settle for a field goal, trailing 27–21. With a chance to take the lead, Derek Carr♿♿ grabbed the ball back. Rather, he took the snap on the drive’s opening play, and one of his offensive linemen unintentionally popped the ball out. Detroit bounces back. After two plays, Jameson Williams scored a spectacular touchdown. The game’s pivotal moment was when one team lost badly again. Someone else happily accepts gifts.
