Tottenham Hotspur are ‘closing in’ on the signing of Blackburn Rovers youngster Ashley Phillips, reports Evening Standard.

Phillips, 18, looks set to seal a £3million move to Tottenham Hotspur. Evening Standard are reporting that the centre-back is set to undergo a medical in the UK and that he could then fly out to join Spurs on their pre-season tour of Asia.

The England U19 man enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last time round, managing to rack up eight Championship appearances whilst asserting himself as a very promising youngster in the Rovers ranks.

He’s had suitors in the past, with the likes of Manchester United and Spurs both linked last season, and it now looks like the latter are about to poach him from Blackburn Rovers

Tottenham Hotspur star Manor Solomon feels Tottenham Hotspur did enough to get a positive result in the loss to West Ham United on Tuesday (18 July).

Spurs took on the Hammers at the Optus Stadium in Australia. Unfortunately, the North London side were unable to start their pre-season run on a winning note, losing 3-2.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the loss, Solomon was delighted to have played his first minutes in a Tottenham shirt. However, the Israel international expressed disappointment at suffering a defeat at the hands of David Moyes’ team.

Spurs signed the 23-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. The forward established himself at Shakhtar Donetsk before he caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays in the Premier League on loan at Fulham last season.

Solomon started the match against West Ham on the left-hand side of the attack. The 23-year-old looked promising going forward and put in an impressive performance in the first 45 minutes, even though we trailed 2-0 at half-time.
