Dallas Goedert returns to practice for the Eagles on Friday, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Dallas Goedert of the Philadelphia Eagles returned to practice on Friday for the first time since suffering a fractured forearm against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 5.
Goedert, 28, did not show up for the first two days of this week.
Since the bye week, Goedert has missed both games against the Chiefs and the Bills. But there’s a reason he wasn’t placed on injured reserve by the Eagles. If they had placed Goedert on injured reserve, he would have had to miss four games. By not placing him on injured reserve, the Eagles indicated that they expected him to play in either the 49ers or Cowboys game next week.
Even if he is unable to play against the 49ers on Sunday, Goedert’s return to practice on Friday implies he may be ready to face the Cowboys in Week 14.
On Friday afternoon, the Eagles must disclose game designations for the 49ers game.

Along with Goedert, fellow tight end Grant Calcaterra (ankle) practiced on Friday after missing the Bills game and the first two days of practice this week.
While a pair of tight ends returned on Friday, the Eagles were still without Fletcher Cox (groin) and Zach Cunningham (hamstring). Both were present at practice, but only as observers. During the first half of practice, Cox worked on a side field.
It’s unusual for players to play multiple games in a week when they haven’t practiced, but Cox is a 12-year veteran who seldom misses games. So we’ll have to wait and see what happens there.
Lane Johnson (groin) is expected to return against the 49ers for the Eagles. He took part fully in Thursday’s practice and returned to the field in uniform on Friday morning.
At practice, the Birds also had a guest. DeSean Jackson announced his retirement as an Eagle on Friday and immediately proceeded to the practice field. He played with a few receivers and some former teammates, including Jason Kelce.
Dallas Goedert of the Eagles returns to practice, hoping to play against the 49ers first aired on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Dallas Goedert declared himself healthy and ready to return to action for the Eagles after practicing for the first time since breaking his forearm a month ago.
The only problem is that it is not his decision.
“You know, I’ve got to talk to the doctor yet, let him know how it felt out there today, but to me, my arm feels really good and I’m really excited to be where I’m at at this time,” Goedert said after the game.
“It was a lot of fun to get out there and just test it out and see how it felt.” And every time you put on the helmet and go about with the team, you feel more like a part of it. As a result, it was a lot of fun. I definitely prefer doing it than running with the strength staff.”
Goedert did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday and had a limited workout on Friday. The Eagles have listed him as questionable for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. However, it is preferable to being outside.
There’s a slim possibility he’ll play, but there’s always a chance.
“The doctor said four to six weeks, and when I hear that, I think two to three,” Goedert remarked. “I was mentally prepared to play a couple weeks ago.” Doctors were divided.”
According to Goedert, physicians implanted a metal plate in his arm that will remain in place indefinitely. He believes the danger of re-injury is low at this point.
“From what I know, there’s really no risk, it’s all just making sure my arm feels good,” he told me. “I got out of the cast a week or five days after surgery, got to move around, and everything, and with the plate in there (the doctor) said the bone is stronger than it was before, so I don’t mind.”
“It’s just working on movement and mobility and such.” And I’m very pleased with where I’m at.”Following a slow start, Goedert was putting up more typical stats before getting hurt, with 25 catches for 322 yards and two touchdowns in his previous five games.
Goedert has a season total of 38-for-410 with two touchdowns. He has 286 catches for 3,407 yards and 21 touchdowns in 5 12 seasons. His 50 yards per game in 2019 ranks fifth among tight ends, trailing Travis Kelce, Geoge Kittle, Darren Waller, and Dallas Goedert.
Last season, Goedert missed five games due to a shoulder issue. Starting tight end Jack Stoll caught two catches for 17 yards during his two-game absence this season.
“For me, I look at the bright side,” Goedert added. “I missed five games last year and hope to miss only two or three this year.” And you see all the other people who have been injured for a year or more.
“It’s tough not being out there but also thankful that I can miss a couple of games and be back for the important games in November (and) December.”
If Goedert misses the 49ers game, he’ll be back a week later for the Cowboys rematch in North Texas, barring a setback.
And, in the grand scheme of things, missing three games with a broken arm isn’t that horrible. It could be much worse.
“It was obviously a scary thing,” Goedert admitted. “When you have a fractured bone, you are concerned. But once they put the plate in there, it’s been doing pretty well. My strength has gradually returned. My pain levels have been extremely low, so I’m very pleased.”
