The Detroit Lions will look to get back on track in Week 13 when they travel to face the New Orleans Saints. The Lions lost their Thanksgiving Day home game and needed a late miracle to win the Chicago Bears in Week 11. In that game, star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was penalized for driving his helmet into Chicago defensive back Jaquan Brisker.
St. Brown was fined more than $43,000 for that hit. He spent time working on his blocking technique in practice. He does not want his blocking to injure himself or any player, and he surely does not want to be fined for his efforts.
“Perhaps just not lowering your head,” St. Brown said. “Make use of your shoulder.” Simply avoid making violent contact with your head to his or the other player’s head. But, as I previously stated, I tend to block in that manner, so I’ll have to work on that.”
St. Brown’s blocking technique could use some work, but he’s done an excellent job this season executing throw patterns and collecting passes. When the game is on the line, head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff know St. Brown will make big plays.
The Amon-Ra St. Brown has 82 receptions for 993 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, making him the Lions’ leading receiver by a significant margin. He possesses the quickness to go open against defensive backs and runs excellent throw patterns.
