Steve Kerr was dissatisfied with everything about the Warriors’ 123-115 road defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, from the over-fouling to the officiating to Chris Paul’s expulsion.
But the Warriors’ coach was annoyed by something unrelated to basketball.
“In this building, you can’t hear anything because it’s like a club, like a South Beach club out there,” Kerr said after the game. “What are we doing?”
The audience erupted in uneasy laughter, but Kerr was not joking.
“I’m being dead serious,” Kerr continued. “There was nothing I could hear out there.” The entire game is filled with booming techno dance music. Can we just play a basketball game now? “What the hell is going on?”
Paul’s return to Phoenix was cut short against the Suns. Referee Scott Foster ejected the veteran point guard shortly before halftime for a foul on Kevin Durant. Paul was dismissed from the game after receiving a second technical foul.
Kerr also picked up a tech in all the ruckus.
The Warriors’ late comeback drive fell just short, as the team finished the season 7-9, ranking 11th in the Western Conference.
