Following their come-from-behind triumph in the Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be the NFL’s top club. Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith overturned a 10-point deficit in the second half to lead the Eagles to their ninth win of the season.
After losing to the Chiefs on the grandest stage in February, Philadelphia’s emotional leader, head coach Nick Sirianni, basked in the light of victory Monday night. He issued a message to Chiefs fans as he exited the tunnel in Kansas City.
“Hey! Chiefs fans, I don’t hear any garbage anymore! See ya!”
It should come as no surprise that some Chiefs players were offended by this remark. Willie Gay Jr. of the Kansas City Chiefs responded, writing on an Instagram post of the Sirianni video, “Dude corny as an mfer.”
Monday night’s triumph was a statement victory for the Eagles, who now share the NFL’s longest active win streak of four games with the Denver Broncos. The Eagles became the first team to start consecutive seasons 9-1 or better since the Indianapolis Colts in 2005-06. That Colts team, by the way, won the Super Bowl.
The Eagles have a good chance of matching or exceeding their 14-3 record from 2022. Tankathon believes the Eagles have the eighth-easiest remaining schedule, despite games against the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, and a rematch with the Dallas Cowboys. They must be feeling good after defeating the squad that denied them Super Bowl victory last year. Sirianni most emphatically is.
