The Pittsburgh Steelers fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada ahead of this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and head coach Mike Tomlin claimed it was his decision, not consulting with general manager Omar Khan or ownership.
Matt Canada’s offense has failed terribly, and he has faced harsh criticism from Steelers fans for several seasons. Tomlin certainly has authority in the matter, as he did not consult with Omar Khan or the ownership to obtain approval for the move. It makes sense because Tomlin has been with the Steelers for a long time and has kept them competitive.

Things came to a head after the Steelers were defeated by the Cleveland Browns on Sunday On the road on Sunday, the offense faltered once more, scoring only 10 points. On the game’s final drive, the Browns won 13-10 on a field goal.

The Steelers are hoping that the trade would result in Kenny Pickett growing and blossoming into a franchise quarterback. The Bengals will play the first test on Sunday. Because the Bengals are without Joe Burrow, the game should be low-scoring. Kenny Pickett will have a solid chance to lead the offense to victory.

The Steelers are now 6-4 and have a strong chance of making the playoffs. Tomlin expects the offense to score more points in the final minutes.
