Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors finally got 20 points in a game this season. The All-Star scored 20 points against the Houston Rockets and discussed breaking his scoring drought after the game.

Against the Rockets, Thompson shot 7-of-16 from the field, 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line. The Warriors won by a score of five points, snapping a six-game losing streak. They are now 7-8 on the season.

In 14 games this season, Thompson has averaged 14.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 40.3% overall, 34.3% from three, and 87.5% from the foul line. The four-time champion is suffering his poorest scoring season since his debut year of 12.5 points per game.

Thompson must improve in order for the Warriors to reclaim their title. The future Hall of Famer informed reporters that Chris Paul was instrumental in his breakout performance against the Rockets.

“I actually watched the ‘Redeem Team’ documentary last night, and it was cool to see a young Chris get kind of rookie hazed by his teammates,” Thompson told ESPN. “It’s amazing that he’s still here just balling. It makes me admire him so much… It makes your job as a shooting guard a lot simpler when you have one of the best passers in history directing things.”
