During his final college season at Alabama in 2021, wide receiver Jameson Williams scored 15 touchdowns in 15 games. Williams, on the other hand, has only reached the end zone twice in 11 games with the Detroit Lions in two seasons.

Williams scored against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10, but the play was called back due to an unlawful low-block penalty on the Lions.

Williams, on the other hand, isn’t too bothered about the lack of touchdowns. On November 16, he assured the media that he’ll be scoring a lot more shortly.

“I was a little mad, but I just ran the next play,” Williams said of the overturned touchdown. “I plan on getting a lot more touchdowns, so I really don’t be tripping off that.”

Williams had two targets in Week 10 if the nullified touchdown is excluded. He caught both for a total of 18 yards.

Williams doesn’t appear to be very concerned these days. In addition to being unconcerned about his lack of scoring, the second-year receiver told the reporters that he is unconcerned with his targets.

“I don’t really know what to say about the targets because I don’t really focus on that,” Williams told reporters. “All I care about is winning.”

“We’ve got a really good thing going right now, something that Detroit hasn’t seen in a long time, and we’re just trying to keep it going.” It makes no difference who gets the ball. All that counts to us is when someone on our squad has the ball in their hands and makes a play.”

Since grabbing a 45-yard touchdown against the Williams in Week 6, Williams has four catches for 34 yards in the last three games. Williams, on the other hand, has had an impact in different ways.

In the first half against the Chargers, Williams executed a 45-yard block that set up  for a 75-yard touchdown run.

“He’s excited not just about catching the ball, but about being where he’s supposed to be when he’s supposed to be there, about getting blocks for his teammates and stuff like that,” Lions wide receiver coach Antwaan Randl eEl told reporters on November 16.

In each of the last two games, Williams played a career-high 34 offensive snaps.

The Detroit receivers coach is happy with Williams’ efforts to help the club win. Randle El, on the other hand, concurred with his rookie receiver — Williams will have an impression on the stat sheet shortly.

“I think it’s just coming,” Randle El said of Williams. “It’s a matter of time.”

Dan Campbell, the Lions’ head coach, believes Williams is improving as well.

“He’s getting better. I believe I said it before: he feels like one of the boys now, man. “He’s a member of the team,” Campbell said to reporters on November 15. “He’s one of them. He’s having a productive day. He’s a man of action. He’s tough, so the more he proves himself here, the more opportunities he’ll receive.

“And his confidence and comfort level are increasing. So he’s in a good place for the time being. He’s getting better. That’s great news, man. We’re proud of him for going after it the other day.”
