quarterback Joe Burrow’s right hand during the game against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, November 16, 2023. /CFPFor the remainder of the game on Thursday, Burrow was replaced by backup quarterback Jake Browning, who completed eight of his fourteen passes for 68 yards and one touchdown. Three times he was fired. After the loss, the Bengals are 5-5 and in last place in the American Football Conference (AFC) North. Seven games are available to
go, so they shouldn’t have too much optimism for the postseason.
Zac Taylor, the team’s head coach, stated, “It kills you to watch somebody have to go through this, you know, several times now.”
Since being chosen as the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Burrow has experienced two season-ending injuries. The first occurred on November 23, 2020, during his rookie season, when he sustained multiple torn ligaments in his left knee.
“There are a lot of guys in that locker room who have been hurt,” Burrow remarked. Many players throughout the league—that’s just one aspect of our work. It’s anticipated. This is not the first time something similar has happened in my career. That is only a portion of it.
