Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna has surfaced as a target for Fenerbahce of Turkey. The defender hasn’t played recently for the Reds and will be out of contract in the summer.

McKenna began the season as a regular starter for Steve Cooper’s team. He appeared in four of the first five games of 2023/24, but hasn’t been called up since September

As Forest gained promotion to the Premier League in 2021/22, the central defender was extremely massive. He was named Player of the Year after being named Man of the Match in the Play-Off Final against Huddersfield.

Fenerbahce is interested in McKenna.

It’s a shame that things appear to be coming to an end with McKenna at Forest. However, it appears that it is not the club’s responsibility, with some sources indicating that there was a mix-up.

According to Haber 7, McKenna is now desired by Fenerbahce, who intends to begin discussions to sign him soon. The team might pay a fee to sign him in January or set up a pre-contract deal to sign him for free in the summer.

McKenna has fallen down the pecking order as a result of the influx of new players. Murillo has taken over the dressing room, while Andrew Omobamidele was also signed in the summer.

Forest should try to negotiate a fee for McKenna.

The 27-year-old has appeared in 105 games for the Reds. McKenna has been an outstanding servant for Forest, and it would be a disgrace to see him leave for free next summer.

With an international club now interested, Forest may have to get used to the thought of not being paid for his services. Fenerbahce might strike a deal with McKenna and then sign him for free next summer when he leaves Forest if they so desire.

Over the next six weeks or so, other clubs will almost certainly try to sign McKenna from Forest. The problem for Forest now is to ensure that they earn a fair price for the defender.
