There have been some speculations regarding whether Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson will return this season, and we are now one step closer to finding out.

The Vikings confirmed on Wednesday that Jefferson’s 21-day practise window has been extended. Jefferson was placed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in Minnesota’s game against Kansas City on Oct. 8. This is the first week he has been cleared to return to practise, so it is encouraging that he has been cleared.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, there is “no rush” for Jefferson to return to game action, therefore he is unlikely to participate against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Vikings have three weeks to add Jefferson to the 53-man roster now that his practise window has opened. If Jefferson is not on the active roster by then, he will be forced to miss the rest of the season.

Jefferson may have been held out longer if the Vikings had fallen out of playoff contention, but they have since won four straight games and are 5-4 on the season. While Kirk Cousins will not play again this season due to a broken ACL, Joshua Dobbs led the Vikings to a win last weekend under some incredible circumstances.
