ST KILDA has delisted defender Tom Highmore, who played 16 AFL games for the Saints.
Highmore, 25, was drafted by the Saints in 2020 and played his final AFL match for the club in round 18, 2022.
He has been informed that he will not be offered a contract for 2024.
“It’s never nice to leave a player in an uncertain situation, and it was a difficult decision to make,” said Saints executive general manager of football David Misson.
“Throughout his tenure with the Saints, Tom has been a popular member of our playing group.
“His positive attitude and willingness to adapt and play wherever needed reflect well on his character.”
St Kilda Football Club will strengthen its relationship with Sandringham Football Club in Season 2024 and beyond, launching a number of initiatives to bring the two clubs closer together.
Beginning with the upcoming pre-season, the streamlined alignment will provide several growth and integration opportunities in the player, coaching, and administration ranks to increase VFL involvement within the club’s AFL programme.
The most visible of the new efforts is St Kilda’s pledge to use one of its rookie list spots to draught a Sandringham player from next year.
Select Sandringham players will also get the opportunity to participate in St Kilda’s major training sessions both in-season and during pre-season, as well as have full access to club facilities and amenities like as the gym, meals, and the possibility to participate in specialised sessions.
The same will be true for Sandringham’s coaching staff, who will be able to acquire vital experience in an elite setting by learning from Saints development coach/Zebras senior coach Jake Batchelor, Head of Development and Learning Damian Carroll, and Development Coach Brendon Goddard.
St Kilda will establish a VFL Liaison Officer to reduce the processes and overlap connected with the VFL, while Sandringham has engaged a Recruiting Manager for next season as part of each club’s commitment to closer alignment.
“The relationship we have with Sandringham Football Club is one we are immensely pleased to deepen moving forward,” said St Kilda Executive General Manager of Football David Misson.
“St Kilda and Sandringham have been officially linked for the past 15 years.” Many of our club’s finest players have been involved with the yellow, black, and blue, including Trevor Barker, Ian Cooper, Bob Murray, and Jeff Sarau, and we hope to see more of today’s names become synonymous with both clubs.
