The striker, who scored 25 goals in 37 Championship appearances on loan during Villa’s promotion season back in 2018/19, is reportedly up for sale at current club AS Roma. Abraham’s risky £35 million transfer to Italy from Chelsea paid off in the first campaign as he netted 27 goals in 52 matches during 2021/22. Things have been much trickier since, though, as he scored just eight times in Serie A last campaign. Speculation has been rife for a long time, with manager Jose Mourinho not seeming particularly keen on Abraham as a starting lineup option.

Calciomercato, an Italian publication, says it can “confirm” that Abraham is still on the transfer list and that Roma’s plans for January remain unchanged. The forward, who was reportedly “one step away” from signing with Villa last summer, is reportedly being watched by West Ham United, Brentford, which is without Ivan Toney, and Chelsea, his previous team. Meanwhile, there are rumours that Unai Emery’s side has resurfaced with interest.

Abraham wouldn’t be at his peak right now if he returned to the Premier League because he is currently injured and hasn’t played a single game this season. But there would be a chance that he may return to his brilliant form, so it might be worth a shot. Abraham, who is still only 26 years old, would probably cost slightly more than the £35 million Roma spent in 2021.
