Nicolo Zaniolo, an Aston Villa player, met with the prosecutor today on the matter involving illicit betting.

When Fabrizio Corona brought up the name of the Villa player, Zaniolo’s name had come up in the betting case. However, Nicolo Fagioli’s admission proved that Zaniolo was, in fact, engaged in some way.

The former Roma guy, however, insisted that he was simply engaged in unlawful blackjack and poker gaming and denied any involvement in criminal betting.

According to Sky Italia, Zaniolo and Prosecutor Manuela Pedretta’s meeting has concluded. After Zaniolo had arrived at the headquarters earlier today at 2:30 p.m., it lasted almost three years. It is likely that Zaniolo clung to the story that he was only involved in illicit poker and blackjack games.

If that turns out to be accurate, Zaniolo’s sole possible punishment will be monetary. He can face a suspension similar to the one imposed on Sandro Tonali and Fagioli if it is established that he participated in football match betting.
