So Sad: paramatta eels players on injury report ahead of…

Teen speedster Sean Russell was sent to the hospital during the Eels’ 32-28 victory over the Titans in round one, dealing yet another blow to Parramatta’s wing stocks.

Russell was hurt when Gold Coast fullback Jayden Campbell collided with his torso and knees first, resulting in a hat-trick. Russell was crossing the line for his third try.

Renowned sports physiotherapist Brien Seeney speculates that Russell might have broken his ribs and estimates a three- to six-week absence if the injury was limited to his ribs.

Sean Russell was sent to the hospital due to a traumatic mechanism that directly touched his right side, leading to suspicions of broken ribs. Hopefully, the hospital visit will remove any internal harm; fingers crossed. Most athletes recover from rib-only injuries in three to six weeks.

Russell’s injury comes after that of Maika Sivo, who tore his anterior, medial, and posterior ligaments during a game in August of last year, and Haze Dunster, who isn’t going to be able to play this season.

After being severely hurt in a hip-drop tackle by Dragons back-rower Tyrell Fuimaono, Dunster turned into a victim of bad luck during this year’s tryouts.

Mitchell Moses, the halfback, hit Russell with a beautiful cut-out ball on the left flank, triggering the Russell incident.
