Following successive losses and a plethora of injuries, it is safe to conclude that the Detroit Lions’ dignity has been harmed, both literally and metaphorically.
Yes, the pun was meant.
At the start of the week, it appeared that the only big injury news to keep an eye on was Matthew Stafford’s. The injury report for this week indicates otherwise.
Many of the Lions’ key players are questionable for Sunday’s game. Only Sam Martin, one of the eleven players listed on the report, participated in a full practise this week.
This is how it works:
Matthew Stafford (right hand), Ameer Abdullah (neck) are both questionable.
Though the injury appeared to be catastrophic for the Lions’ franchise quarterback, x-rays on Stafford’s hand came back negative. Stafford also did not appear to be limited by the injury in practise. All indications are that he will play on Sunday.
The actual concern for Stafford is the health of those sworn to guard him, which is a completely different situation.
Abdullah is still hampered by a neck injury that forced him to miss last week’s competition. He resumed to practise this week, but not completely.
Tion Green, who made a strong debut last week, could see more playing time regardless of Abdullah’s availability.
