The brilliant Eagles player was transported to the hospital after suffering a severe neck injury.

Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat was transported to hospital after being stretchered off the pitch in Philadelphia on Sunday after suffering a frightening neck injury.

Midway through the first quarter, Sweat came around the edge to make a tackle on Saints running back Adam Prentice. Sweat’s helmet first made contact with Prentice’s helmet before he remained face-down on the pitch, surrounded by teammates kneeling until a cart ultimately came out to rescue him.Sweat had movement in all of his extremities, according to the Eagles, and was sent to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

Sweat, 25, is having a breakout season with 11 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. Last year, the fourth-round pick out of Florida State got his first Pro Bowl invitation after recording 7.5 sacks.

The Eagles began Sunday with a 13-2 record and a chance to capture the top seed in the NFC, requiring a win over the Saints to secure home-field advantage and a first-round bye.
