Clément Lenglet joined Aston Villa on loan from Barcelona on deadline day.
Tyrone Mings suffered a significant injury in August that will keep him out for the majority of the season, forcing the Villans to act and sign the 28-year-old.
According to Monday’s Sport, Lenglet is ‘going through a terrible time’ at Aston Villa, which has annoyed the La Liga club. After spending the previous season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, the Frenchman has returned to the Premier League, making two appearances for Unai Emery’s team, both in the UEFA Conference League.
The report states the centre-back has ‘failed to gain the trust’ of the manager so far which is why he’s not having it ‘easy’ at Villa Park. They add the former Sevilla man will wait for a few more weeks to see if there will be any improvement in his situation at Aston Villa.
It’s said both Lenglet and the La Liga side are clear that he has to have more game time in order to not let his market value drop.
According to Sport, the ‘next few weeks will be decisive’ because the defender has a ‘lot of market’.
This could suggest that there’s a possibility for Lenglet’s loan stay at Aston Villa to be terminated in January.
