Although teams are not required to submit injury updates at this time of year, there are still ailments to watch on the NFL Injury Report 2023 as we prepare for the next regular season.

The following is a list of NFL players that are currently injured, along with their injury status.

The initial meeting between Jon Gruden and Derek Carr set the tone, as they say.
“You’re not allowed to get hurt,” Raiders head coach Jon Gruden informed his quarterback at the time. “If you get hurt, I’m going back to Florida.”

Carr didn’t need the extra motivation to make sure he was available every Sunday, physical or otherwise. Aside from a back ailment that sidelined him for one game in 2017 and a broken leg that ended his season with one game remaining in 2016, Carr just does not miss football games.

Nonetheless, Gruden’s challenge in 2018 helped Carr develop a mindset that has remained with him to this day.

It’s no surprise, however, that Carr is determined to play this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins despite sustaining a severe ankle injury last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Without even knowing what his ankle would look like the following morning, let alone a week later, Carr told himself, Gruden and anyone else who asked, “Yes, I’m playing.”

Call it mind over matter, but Carr has learned over the years that attitude and conviction generally determine ultimate outcomes.

When you get an injury, the first question your coach asks is, “Are you going to be ready on Sunday?” “And your first reaction is where you set your mind,” Carr explained. As a result, the first response was “Absolutely, I’m playing.”

“Whereas if you’re up in the air, you’ve already lost the battle in your mind,” Carr said. “So anything that happens now is a ‘Oh, it’s a setback.'” No, I’m simply flushing it out. It’s a different way of thinking.”
