Sad news: This morning, the worst has happened yet again.

When an NFL player sustains a concussion, league regulations prohibit him from speaking to the media following the game. According to the logic, the player should be sleeping rather than answering reporters’ inquiries. As a result, we frequently hear little to no information about players’ brain injuries.

That is precisely what makes Jermichael Finley’s latest web video regarding his Week 3 concussion so interesting.

In case you missed it, Finley was forced out of the game after colliding with Bengals safety George Iloka. The game finished with a terrifying spectacle in which Finley attempted to run for the sidelines, faltered for about 10 paces, and finally collapsed to the ground. He’d soon be able to walk off the pitch on his own.

Finley discusses the play that caused his injury, as well as how the hit left him feeling, in the video, which you can see below. “I looked to the sideline,” he says, and all he saw were jerseys. I noticed trousers, the yellow trousers that we wear. I also didn’t see any heads or legs. So everyone was beheaded, and my body was on fire.”

Later in the locker room, Finley claims a team doctor informed him, “You can throw me across this training room if you want, but your butt is not going to be in that game.” “I said, ‘Actually, I do want to throw you across this locker room right now.'”

Finley’s afternoon came to an end when he received an unpleasant phone call from his son. “He said, ‘Daddy, I don’t want you to play football anymore,'” he says in the video. Hearing a five-year-old, knowing the violence, the intensity of the game, and seeing his father walk off the pitch like that was difficult to swallow.”

Finley is currently going through the league’s concussion protocol. Because the Packers did not play this past Sunday, they did not have to release an injury report. As such, we are keeping Finley on our watch list to see if his concussion is added to the injury report for Week 5.
