Markkannen was injured while attempting to fight Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s layup at the rim with around four minutes remaining in the second quarter.
He landed awkwardly on his right leg and remained down until he was carried off the court by teammates Cedi Osman and Dean Wade, unable to put much weight on his foot as he departed the court.
Markkannen finished the game with nine points and two rebounds, shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
