Newcastle United have ‘considered’ a January move for Arsenal prodigy Emile Smith Rowe, according to writer Ben Jacobs, who revealed the Magpies’ possibilities to GIVEMESPORT.

Smith Rowe has struggled for playing time in recent years, with speculation that he may leave the club for greener pastures in the future.

Smith Rowe hasn’t had the Arsenal career many expected him to have after breaking into the main squad five years ago. Smith Rowe, like fellow academy product Bukayo Saka, was supposed to go on and establish himself as a regular for the Gunners, but at the age of 23, that hasn’t quite happened.

Instead, after starting just one of Arsenal’s 12 games in all competitions this season – a third-round League Cup encounter against Brentford – there is a growing sentiment that it is time to leave the north Londoners.

Smith Rowe is ‘finding things difficult’ at the Emirates Stadium, according to journalist Dean Jones, who also believes the England international is running out of time to establish his worth to boss Mikel Arteta. The Spanish coach clearly sees Smith Rowe as a bit part player, but it is now up to the London-born star to determine what he wants to do next.

Smith Rowe, on the other hand, is no longer an academy kid who will be content with the occasional outing, which means his hand may have been forced and a January exit might potentially be on the cards, with Newcastle one team circling the midfield masterUpdate on Ben Jacobs – Emile Smith Rowe
When asked about the latest developments in the Smith Rowe controversy by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jacobs revealed that it was becoming increasingly likely that he would leave the Emirates Stadium when the January transfer window opened. Despite insisting that nothing is ‘advanced,’ Jacobs claims Smith Rowe will be unhappy with his present game time and may seek to pursue a move away:

“I think it’s now up to Smith Rowe to decide whether he’ll get any more game time in the coming months.” And if he doesn’t, there’s a good chance he’ll ask to leave the club at some time in 2024. I don’t believe there is anything advanced with the Newcastle links at this point, and I believe that several Premier League clubs who have at least discussed Smith Rowe, which is a very normal thing to do ahead of January, including Newcastle, are well aware that he has not yet made a decision on his future. It suggests that starting to plan or plan gets a little more difficult.
