According to Football Insider, Mark Ridgeway has left Manchester City to return to Wolves barely six weeks after departing.
Ridgeway is said to have made the surprising decision to return to Molineux after only a few weeks in his new post as scouting manager at the Etihad Stadium.
In a previous role at Arsenal, the talent scout signed England internationals Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
He had previously served as a senior academy scout with Wolves.
At the senior level, City have already built a reputation for being astute buyers, with Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, and Manuel Akanji providing excellent value in previous seasons.
Man City had highlighted Ridgway as a potential game-changer as they attempted to enhance their output of academy talents.
Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, and Oscar Bobb are among the young players who have broken into Pep Guardiola’s first team.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Jadon Sancho, and Brahim Diaz have excelled since leaving City for greener pastures.
Man City have won three consecutive Under-18 and Under-21 titles, replicating the club’s senior success.
Meanwhile, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ryan Giles, and Hugo Bueno have all come up through the ranks at Molineux.
In 2018, the Midlands club also signed captain Max Kilman from Maidenhead United, developing him into a top-tier Premier League centre-back.
Man City are third in the Premier League after eight games, while Gary O’Neill’s Wolves are 14th after defeating Guardiola’s team last month.
In other news, Arsenal has been told to make a “huge” offer for Wolves’ star.
