Nottingham Forest are alleged to have convinced Chelsea that Andrey Santos will be given a chance in the Premier League soon.
Since signing from the Blues in the summer, the on-loan midfielder has made one appearance for the Reds. His only appearance came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley in August, when he played nearly the entire 90 minutes.
Chelsea fans have taken to social media to express their displeasure with his lack of playing time. Meanwhile, rumours say that the club is considering recalling the 19-year-old in January.
According to Give Me Sport, no final decision has been taken at Stamford Bridge. However, it is reported that seeking a fresh loan for Santos for the second half of the season is a possibility “if things do not improve” – despite Chelsea being assured that “opportunities are coming.”
According to the article, “there is some regret” about the Brazilian’s borrowing decision. Porto were one among the clubs interested in signing him, but the youngster preferred to join a Premier League club to assist him adjust to English football.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Forest head coach Steve Cooper recently stated of Santos, “He’s been good.” He’s clearly a talented young player. I had a great conversation with Chelsea about him. I had no idea anything had been written about him.
“There are a lot of new players here, and we’re really trying to strike the right balance between integrating all of the players at the right time and performing as well as we can in every single game to get the results we want.” That is an actual procedure.
“Sometimes, young players take longer to settle in than others.” I’m not saying he isn’t; it’s just that he isn’t in some of the games right now.
“Brentford, for example, could have been a really good game for him to come off the bench.” But we were down to ten men, and he wasn’t feeling good on the bench. That worked against him because he was obviously in our consideration for a change. It didn’t turn out that way because of how he was feeling and the red card, so there was some bad luck involved.
“But we’re having a great time working with him and watching him train.” That process will be continued.”
