Sad news: A promising and great Nottingham Forest player has been ruled out for six weeks due to injury.

Nottingham Forest will be sweating on the fitness of Neco Williams and Moussa Niakhate as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Brentford.

Both were forced off at the City Ground as the Reds ended an 11-match winless run by seeing off Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1. It continued Forest’s rotten luck on the injury front, something they have suffered with for much of this season.

Niakhate came off in the first half, after just 14 minutes, with a hamstring problem. Fellow defender Williams was taken to hospital with a facial injury after being stretchered off just past the hour mark following a collision with Brennan Johnson.

“I did catch a glimpse of Neco coming off and saw blood. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad. His health comes first, regardless of results,” said head coach Steve Cooper

The Reds welcomed back Serge Aurier and Cheikhou Kouyate from spells on the sidelines against the Seagulls, with the former included in the starting XI. But a number of key players continue to be absent.

Victory lifted Cooper’s side out of the relegation zone with five matches remaining. They came from behind, cancelling out Facundo Buonanotte’s opener as a Renan Lodi effort was deflected in, Danilo bagged his first for the club and Morgan Gibbs-White scored from the penalty spot.
