West Ham are still waiting to find out the extent of Michail Antonio’s hamstring injury he suffered against Newport County on Tuesday night.
The Hammers winger was forced from the field just seven minutes into the game having pulled up when chasing down an Aaron Cresswell pass, falling to the floor in a heap and immediately signalling that he needed to be substituted.
The club has had to wait for the injury to die down before they can get it scanned and that has yet to be sorted out, indicating the injury could be quite severe.
Antonio is definitely out of the game against Norwich City this weekend after Pellegrini confirmed following the win in midweek that it was a hamstring problem that the winger suffered.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash with Norwich this weekend, the manager said: “We will see tomorrow.
“He needs at least 48 hours to do his MRI scan and then we will see exactly what kind of injury it is.”
Javier Hernandez has returned to training and is available for selection this weekend, with Winston Reid the only other player alongside Antonio who is definitely out through inury.
Antonio had made a ig impact off the bench against Watford and Brighton is his last two outings and the injury is a big blow to Pellegrini. The manager started Andriy Yarmolenko fpr the 3-1 win at Vicarage Road and the Ukrainian could be in line for a second start in a row this weekend.
Pablo Fornals is another option to play on the flank, as is Robert Snodgrass as the Chilean manager at least has some options to replace the stricken winger.
