Injury update: Bournemouth confirmed a dangerous injury to their top midfielder, believing he is going to die.

Bournemouth are set to be without club record signing Tyrone Mings for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old is set to be sidelined for between 9-12 months after tearing the anterior and medial ligaments in his knee, reports BBC Radio Solent.

Mings was injured just six minutes into his Premier League debut on Saturday, during the Cherries 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

The £8million defender needed oxygen after the tackle with Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater and has subsequently been left out of Bournemouth’s 25-man Premier League squad.

Mings, the 6ft 5in defender, comfortable at both left-back and centre-half, joined Eddie Howe’s men in the summer from Championship side Ipswich Town.

His move completed a remarkable rise, having joined Ipswich from Chippenham Town in 2013 for just £10,000.

It was a double blow for the Cherries, who saw £6million Ivory Coast international Max Gradel also suffer an injury which could keep him on the sidelines for the next six months.
