Injury update West Ham midfielder thought he was going to die after what…..

West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer has admitted he is hoping his season can get brighter moving forwards after overcoming injury issues from the start of the campaign.

The defender spoke to RTL + in Germany, relayed by Sport1, following West Ham’s 2-1 win over Freiburg in the Europa League group stages.

The game was just his third start of this season, with his others coming in the Hammers’ first European game and the EFL Cup.

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for the German, who has found himself out of the side early on thanks to minor injury issues.

It means he’s managed just 18 minutes of football in the Premier League to date, instead getting his regular minutes in the EFL Cup and Europa League.

In his absence West Ham have been in good form domestically, winning five of their first seven league games and sitting seventh in the table.

It means manager David Moyes is unlikely to change things up anytime soon, but Kehrer is hoping that he can get back in moving forwards and potentially put himself back on the international stage after shaking off the injury problems causing him issues.

“Of course, the national team is still an issue for me,” he said.

“It’s all up to me, my performance that I bring. I had a few problems with injuries at the start of the season.

“I haven’t spoken directly to Julian Nagelsmann yet. But I am confident that we will have successful times with him again.”
