Raul Jimenez, a striker for Wolves, has already set his sights on a comeback after breaking his skull during Sunday’s victory away at Arsenal. The horrifying injury was caused by the Mexican’s horrible head collision with Arsenal defender David Luiz at the Emirates Stadium. The incident overshadowed Nuno Espirito Santo’s team’s strong road performance.

When Jimenez attempted to head the ball out of his own six-yard box, he collided with opponent Luiz, who was also injured. Luiz controversially played on until halftime, when Mikel Arteta replaced him.

After receiving oxygen on the pitch during a 10-minute stoppage on Sunday night, the 29-year-old was obliged to have surgery in a London hospital.

Yesterday morning, Wolves released a statement confirming that their No. 9 was ‘comfortable’ in the hospital and with his wife Daniela.

It stated: “Raul is comfortable after having surgery last night in a hospital in London. Since then, he has seen Daniela, his partner, and is currently sleeping.

“The club would like to thank the medical staff at Arsenal, the NHS paramedics, hospital staff, and surgeons who, through their skill and early response, were of such help.”

As he works towards a comeback, Jimenez now seems to have allayed concerns that the injury would endanger his career.

“Thanks for your support messages,” he tweeted. I’ll be watched, but I hope to be back on the pitch shortly.

Nuno, the manager of Wolves, said that Jimenez was “aware” and “speaking” in the hospital after regaining consciousness following the game.

What would it actually take for people to start seeing this is something really, very important to start thinking, “It’s a real shame my episode didn’t change the perception?

I’ll be honest; I was astonished that David Luiz was permitted to continue. I’m not blaming the Arsenal doctor because he followed the process, which is in place.

“But the protocol that is currently in place is insufficient; having just two or three minutes is insufficient.

“It was a difficult challenge; the loudness, the impact, and the speed of it all were bad. The fact that there were no fans and you could hear the moment of contact didn’t help.
