Injury update from a celebrity after a Leeds United teenager was….

Stricken schoolboy Archie Gray has hopefully sprained, and not broken, his ankle after the Leeds United midfielder was stretchered off during Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. Head coach Jesse Marsch gave an update to the media after the match.

John McGinn’s studs were planted into the 16-year-old’s ankle midway through the second half in Brisbane. The challenge left the teenager in a heap on the floor before he was carried off with his right leg in a brace.

Marsch says the severity will only be known in the next few days, but there was initial hope it may be a sprain rather than a break. He said: “We’re hopeful it’s not too bad.

“He was in some pain initially when they assessed it after the match. They’re hopeful nothing’s broken and it’s just an ankle sprain. We’ll see exactly the severity of it in the next couple of days, but hopefully not too bad.”

Gray has been one of the stories of the summer so far. The 16-year-old’s impressive displays have made him a part of the senior squad for next season in Marsch’s eyes.
