Injury update: Luton Town captain carted off versus Coventry City with a serious injury.

Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer has been carried off on a stretcher in the play-off final against Coventry City at Wembley this afternoon.

The Hatters skipper stumbled to the ground under no challenge in the eighth minute and was then attended to by physios from both clubs and medical staff. Luton boss Rob Edwards ushered his players away from where Lockyer received treatment before he was eventually replaced by Reece Burke.

Lockyer was seen being given oxygen and fans, players and both managers applauded as he was taken off the pitch. The game eventually resumed after a five-minute delay. Lockyer is reportedly in the Wembley medical room with his parents.

Sky Sports reporter David Craig has said: “Tom Lockyer was taken from pitch by the medical staff both from Wembley and Luton Town, he was conscious when he was passed through the tunnel.

“He’s been taken to the medical room, we’re not yet aware of the nature of his distress, but his parents who are both here today have both come down from the stand and are in there with him. As soon as we have further information we’ll bring it to you.”
