Coventry City have suffered a heavy blow with the news that Matty Godden could be sidelined for up to four months.

The Sky Blues striker suffered an ankle injury against Sheffield United on Wednesday night and subsequent scans revealed he had torn ligaments and would need surgery to repair them.
Godden was notable in his absence from Stoke today as Mark Robins’s side recorded a brilliant 2-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium to claim their third successive league title and lift them to third from bottom. .
The Robins were delighted with the win, but Godden’s injury clearly spoiled an excellent day’s work on the road. The 31-year-old has been unlucky with injuries and illness over the past two years, with him suffering from a long-standing leg injury and appendicitis. When asked about Godden’s absence, the Man City boss revealed:
“Matty will be out of action for a while, about three to four months. He tore a ligament in his right ankle so it’s just bad luck, terrible luck and he’ll be out for a few months.
“His leg was in the air and the ball hit his ankle in the air and he moved it to the outside and he put all his weight on it when he landed and it obviously went raises a big problem: God’s Law!
