Mark Robins makes an Ellis Simms prediction after the striker kicks off…..

Mark Robins believes he has a Premier League striker in Ellis Simms, who scored twice to inspire Coventry City to a 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

The summer signing from Everton has struggled to find his feet since his £3.5million move from Goodison Park, but showed the 2,750 travelling Sky Blues fans what he’s all about at Loftus Road, where he hit two precise finishes either side of a Josh Eccles’ strike in 12 second half minutes to secure City’s first away victory and only second win of the season.

When asked if he believes the 22-year-old would return to the Premier League one day, hopefully with Coventry, Robins responded unequivocally: “Yes.” That is why we purchased him. He has a lot of potential, but he is far from done.

Sources: Middlesbrough join chase for Everton striker with Ellis Simms destined for Championship move

“He scored a goal for Everton against Chelsea last season and it was absolutely incredible. He’s got everything and can be a real handful. And sometimes it’s just learning the game and feeling comfortable in the way he operates and not trying to make him into something you want him to be but within his capabilities and comfort, and trying to push that to make him better and get him to try things he wouldn’t normally try. But that will come with experience and also with confidence.

“It’s a confidence game, and for strikers more so, because they have to finish things and get contact on a ball that is moving pretty fast most of the time. He’s been desperate to score and it’s taken him nine games to get on the scoresheet, but he’s been better over the last nine or ten days and that will do him the world of good.”

He added: “At 3-0 at that stage the only blip was the goal we conceded which was a little bit like the ones we have given away lately, so we have got to be better than that. They threw everything at us and have got some quality in the team.

“It’s a good win, a welcome win and the three points are the most important thing for us anyway. The first half wasn’t anything special to write home about by any stretch of the imagination, but to win the game was the most important thing for us because if you can do that it can start to build the momentum, which is really important.”
