Check out the ratings below.

6: David Button As simple a match as he’s ever had. Apart from evading approaching tennis balls from the stands, I was never bothered. A pleasant day at the office.

Tyler Bindon, 6: A good day at work for the child. Despite playing out of position, the New Zealand international handled everything well. Does not provide the attacking threat of the other right-back choices, but defends adequately when needed.

Harlee Dean, 6: Like the rest of the back-line, he was rarely called upon but was comfortable and competent when called upon. Could have done better with some of his distribution from the back, but can’t knock the defensive job done. Tom McIntyre, 6: The skipper was calm and composed throughout, dealing with anything that came his way. Shame he was forced off before half-time, as it was a good chance to gain 90 minutes under his belt in what has been

Matt Carson, 6: Didn’t have to defend much and provided a strong attacking outlet at the back. Whipped in several risky crosses, but there were no takers this time.

Charlie Savage, 5: The midfielder was little dissatisfied with the high standards he had previously set, but he did nothing wrong. Simple passes reached his teammates, and he tried to play forward as much as he could. It wasn’t his best afternoon in terms of set-piece delivery, but consistency will come.

6: Lewis Wing The experienced League One operator is still working his way back to full health, making him a more dynamic Wing than we’ve seen in recent weeks. He spread the ball beautifully and even risked his arm with several long-range tries.

Ben Elliott, 6: The kid would go silent for lengthy stretches of the game despite making some great passes and touches when everything connected. Everyone can see the quality; the 20-year-old just needs time to consistently unlock it.

Harvey Knibbs, 6: One of the summer signing’s better recent outings. His tremendous energy and effort are unquestionable, but it just hasn’t clicked in a Royals jersey yet.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 6: Excellent hold-up and link-up play, just missing the final touch. At least two of his great opportunities had to be converted.

Femi Azeez, 6: The overall play was on display against the Brewers, but the Academy graduate is out of form in front of goal. Just hoping that something happens to get him back on track.

Substitutes

Nelson Abbey, 7: Substituted in the first half for the injured McIntyre, Abbey put forth a dominant display at the defense. The youngster was quite impressive, flying into tackles and picking his head up when over the ball.

Dom Ballard, 6: Busy and energetic, but only handed one genuine chance on goal, which he should have taken.

Paul Mukariu, 6: When handed the ball, he looked to go towards his defender and add some attacking thrust.

Andy Yiadom, 6: Had little time to make an impression but appeared to be pushing forward considerably more than those who came before him.
