Man City injury news and return dates vs. Newcastle United: Kovacic, Bernardo, Stones

Manchester City are poised to welcome back Mateo Kovacic for the Carabao Cup third-round tie with Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Wednesday night (8pm). Kovacic, 29, has been missing for the last two games, with a muscular problem. However, the ex-Chelsea player is now expected to be involved against the Magpies.

City were without four players for their Premier League triumph over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, including long-term absentee Kevin De Bruyne, but £100 million man Jack Grealish made a welcome return. Here is our most recent update from the treatment table, with potential return dates.

We now have four key players out for an extended period of time, which would be impossible to continue. He had a minor injury and will be sidelined for a week or ten days.”

Muscular injury to John Stones

Possible return date: September 30 against the Wolves.

Guardiola stated, “John and Kevin are still out.” John is doing better, although he still has problems.”

Guardiola stated, “It’s a serious injury.” He’ll be sidelined for several months. The injury is a huge setback. He possesses some characteristics. It has been quite difficult for us for a long time.
