‘Right good signing’: Barry Ferguson admits Celtic have made a brilliant buy in getting 25-year-old

Following his observations of Hoops winger Daizen Maeda, Barry Ferguson believes Celtic have struck a great bargain.

The Japanese star has been lauded for his performance against Livingston at the weekend, but Maeda has been doing this since he joined the club in 2022.
But against Almondvale, he was absolutely brilliant, and it was his goal that capped off such a slick display and sparked all the talk about the Celtic star this week.

“He’s a teammate’s dream,” Ferguson remarked on [The Go Radio Football Show]. He returns and lends a hand. He usually plays on the left side.

Barry Ferguson believes Celtic have scored a good deal after observing Hoops winger Daizen Maeda.

The Japanese star was praised for his performance against Livingston last weekend, but Maeda has been doing this since joining the club in 2022.
But he was absolutely superb against Almondvale, and it was his goal that topped off such a smooth display and triggered all the hype about the Celtic star this week.

“He’s a teammate’s dream,” Ferguson said on [The Go Radio Football Show] this week. He returns and assists. He usually plays on the left side of the field.

Maeda has been outstanding for Celtic this season. Whatever you think of his final ball (which TBR Celtic discussed earlier this week), the £1.3m Celtic spent for him has to be one of the bargains of the century.

The international winger is undeniably talented. Hajime Moriyasu, Japan’s manager, consistently chooses Maeda for international service and, more often than not, starts with him in his side.

He was so impressive against Livingston on Saturday that David Martindale used him as an example of what his own players should strive for.

Whatever Celtic fans think of Maeda, they should realise that they are extremely fortunate to have him at the club.
