Celtic are said to be nearing an agreement with Reo Hatate on a contract extension.

When he joined the Hoops in January 2022, the midfielder made an immediate impression and is under contract until May 2026.

Over the previous 18 months, his status has shifted from first-team potential to one of the squad’s most influential and creative players.
Recruiting quality players to the SPFL proved difficult during the transfer window, with Celtic willing to give a significant wage increase to guarantee Hatate is properly rewarded and secured for a critical stage in his career.

CELTIC are nearing a deal with midfielder Reo Hatate to extend his Parkhead contract.

As initially reported by Mail Sport, talks for a new contract began two weeks ago. The discussions have been reported as “positive,” and Hatate’s representatives anticipate receiving definitive confirmation of the offer from the Parkhead club in the coming days.

The champions wanted the Japanese international, who is now under contract until 2026, to follow winger Liel Abada in committing to a new contract on the final day of the transfer window.

McGregor has been through the process numerous times, but with two titles and one Champions League campaign under their belts, the others have proven that they have what it takes to take on the unique challenge of playing for Celtic and delivering success.
