Newcastle United’s fixtures are stacking up, from the Champions League to the Premier League and now the Carabao Cup.

The Magpies’ next opponent is Manchester City, who will go to St James’ Park in search of the one trophy they did not win last season.

Pep Guardiola’s squad won the treble last season but were eliminated from the Carabao Cup. Manchester United won the FA Cup after defeating Newcastle in the final at Wembley Stadium.

Eddie Howe’s side will face a supposedly unstoppable Manchester City side in the final on Wednesday night, making a return to the final extremely difficult.

Howe is sure to make several changes, and here is the lineup we expect to see from Newcastle against Manchester City.

Tino Livramento should start for the first time as a result of this. He should take over at right-back for Kieran Trippier, who deserves a rest after some magnificent performances.

Toon fans will be hoping to see Lewis Hall on the opposite flank, but he may have to settle for substitute minutes. We believe Howe will go with Matt Targett at left-back instead of the £28 million guy.

Anthony Gordon should be worried about Newcastle 25-year-old's performance this weekend - opinion

With his comeback, Dan Burn will be able to play at center-back, giving Sven Botman a rest after his injury. Jamaal Lascelles, who has yet to play this season, should join Burn.

Lewis Miley makes his senior Newcastle debut.
With Joelinton and Joe Willock still out, Howe’s midfield choices are fairly limited at the moment.

As a result, he may consider the Manchester City game as an opportunity to give Lewis Miley his first senior start. It was said at the start of the season that Howe intended to utilise Miley in the Carabao Cup, and hopefully that holds true. The 17-year-old was outstanding in preseason and deserves to start on Wednesday night.

We expect him to be joined by Sean Longstaff and Sandro Tonali.

Anthony Gordon should keep up his good form.
Anthony Gordon was named Newcastle’s man of the match against Sheffield United, and he’ll be looking to keep his form going in the Carabao Cup.

As a result, he should start on the left, with Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy partnering him in attack as Howe makes nine changes to the team that started at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

Dubravka; Livramento, Lascelles, Burn, Targett; Longstaff, Tonali, Miley; Murphy, Isak, Gordon; Murphy, Isak, Gordon.
