Aston Villa striker’s departure explained as a shattering transfer blow up

Caleb Chukwuemeka, a former Aston Villa striker, is on trial with Bristol City. Chukwuemeka, the older brother of Chelsea and ex-Villa hotshot Carney, spent two years with Villa after signing from Northampton Town in 2021, but only made one League Cup appearance.

Villa supposedly beat Tottenham and Rangers to his signature two years ago, but the striker failed to make the desired improvement during his time at Villa Park. He was not on Villa’s retained list in June, but he was not on the official published list of contracted players this month.

Over the last two years, he has been on loan at Livingston and Crawley Town, with Crawley ostensibly under an obligation to buy. They did not, though, and he has not been added on Villa’s Premier League squad list this season. He is now claimed to be without a club, which appears to be the case, as he has been struck a crushing blow in his efforts to locate a team.

On Monday, Chukwuemeka played for Bristol City under-21s, who defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 in the Professional Development League. He played 45 minutes as a trialist with the Robins but did not make an impact.

According to our Bristol Live colleagues, the Ashton Gate club is “unlikely” to award the 21-year-old a contract. So the hunt for a new club for Caleb continues.
